The treatment modalities that are offered at my practice are a blend of conventional dental services with airway-centric treatment. Often, patients will come in for regular dental work and leave my offices more enlightened about their airway health.
During your general dental consultation, I will always screen you or your child for signs of airway dysfunction, but if you have a specific airway-related concern, please book an airway consultation.
Your child’s first paediatric dental consultation is more than just a check-up—it’s the beginning of a relationship built on trust and empowerment. During our time together, I’ll gently introduce them to the dental environment, ensuring that they feel safe and heard at all times.
We’ll discuss their general oral health, the development of their jaws, and screen for any potential red flags related to airway health or orthodontic concerns. Beyond just oral health, we’ll explore factors that impact their overall well-being, including diet, oral hygiene habits, dysfunctional breathing patterns, myofunctional issues, sleep patterns, and feeding history.
I’ll also take the time to address any other health concerns that may be important to your child’s development. My goal is to provide a holistic, personalised approach to support your child’s long-term health.
This conversation is centred around your child’s airway health, breathing patterns and facial and skeletal development. I do a deep dive into your child’s history from infancy, dietary habits, sleep quality, potential behavioural and cognitive issues, respiratory and other medical conditions. I assess the development of your child’s mid-face and jaws, tongue posture, presence of tongue or lip ties, speech and whether you are a nasal or mouth breather.
We now know and understand that orthodontic issues such as crooked teeth are merely a symptom of the underlying cause, which are usually related to dysfunctional breathing habits, poor tongue posture and a reverse swallowing pattern. These appliances are specifically designed for patients with myofunctional, airway and subsequent orthodontic problems. Each appliance has its own unique application, and there are appliances that are suitable for people from the age of 3 years. They are most effective in children, but can also be used for teenagers and adults.

Tongue and lip ties cause a physical restriction of the tongue and lip respectively, preventing optimal function. They are of importance for many reasons. Infants that are tongue or lip-tied may struggle to breastfeed, toddlers may develop speech impediments and older kids & teenagers may have compromised growth of their jaws and mid face. Tongue and lip-tie releases are done under general anaesthetic for any patient above the age of 3 months.
Simply book your 30-minute or 60-minute consultation online. Alternatively, give us a call.
I’ve made it my mission to create an inclusive space where people can feel free to express their health concerns without judgement and that spreads awareness about how impactful your airway health can be on your overall well being.
